What is IVF with EGG DONATION?

The desire to experience the joy of pregnancy and the bond that forms between a mother and her child during pregnancy is powerful and natural. If you have  exhausted all other fertility treatment options with your own eggs – including in vitro fertilisation (IVF)  in  natural  cycle  treatments –  our IVF with Egg Donation treatment could help you become a mother with the help of an egg donor.

Given that donor eggs are young and healthy, IVF with Egg Donation  is a simple treatment  and has the highest  success rates. We know how important  it is that your future baby physically resembles you and your family, which is why we specialise in finding even the  rarest  phenotype donors

What makes our Egg Donation treatment better?

Extensive donor database

We have  one of the most  extensive  databases  for the selection of egg donors  with  different phenotypes
(e.g. height, eye colour and blood type).

Access to only the best quality donor  Thorough Donor Eligibility Screening

Every single one of our donors undergoes rigorous medical and psychological screening to ensure the best quality oocytes and overall success of the treatment. We insist that each donor is between the ages of 18 and 30 years old to ensure superior egg quality, is in a perfect state of health, doesn’t suffer from any STIs (sexually transmitted infections) or genetic diseases, to ensure superior egg quality.

Designed for you

You are unique, as is your body. As a boutique fertility clinic, we focus our attention on one patient at a time.
This means that we personalise your treatment to your needs. A one-size-fits-all solution is simply not an option.

How IVF with Egg Donation works

Naturally, your dedicated NatuVitro specialist will have an in-depth conversation with you that is
appropriate to your specific fertility needs.  But here is a simplified version of how IVF with Egg Donation works.

PHASE 1

Egg  Donor  Selection

Based on your phenotype, we  select  the  best  egg  donor for you. We  manually search  for  a  perfect match  to  your  physical characteristics and once  chosen, the donor will  undergo  a rigorous screening process.

Egg donation process

PHASE 2

Semen Processing

If your partner’s sperm has not been previously frozen and stored, it would now be collected and prepared for the IVF procedure in the lab. If you are using donor sperm, it has already been prepared and frozen by the donor sperm bank.  We take safety and traceability  extremely  seriously. Our  IVF lab is equipped with one of the most sophisticated  double security systems (among others),  designed to eliminate  any handling errors.

Egg  Donor Retrieval

PHASE 3

Egg  Donor Retrieval

The well-being of our donors is important to us and we go to great lengths to make sure that their involvement goes smoothly and safely. Time and again, we’ve seen how the opportunity to help another woman conceive, brings these incredible donors great joy.

Before we retrieve the eggs, we screen the donor to make sure that she is  medically, psychologically and legally  fit. Once  approved, we promote multiple follicle growth via  respectful  ovarian  stimulation.  Once the follicles have reached  their  optimal  maturation,  we carefully  retrieve  them and select the best quality oocytes for you.

Blastocysts  Creation process

PHASE 4

Blastocysts  Creation

Using Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), our highly skilled embryologist injects a single sperm using a micro-needle directly into the egg. Inside the protected environment of the EmbryoScope Flex Incubator ®, they develop into  a  blastocyst  (day-5 embryo).

Blastocysts Freezing process

PHASE 5

Blastocysts  Freezing

Your 100% unaltered blastocysts are  now  frozen (vitrified),  which is necessary to synchronize with the implantation window.  The vitrified blastocysts are safely stored until you are 100% ready for your transfer.

Endometrial Preparation

PHASE 6

Endometrial Preparation

Your endometrium is primed and prepared to make sure that your lining is in optimal condition to receive embryo transfer. We may use either the Natural-cycle or  the  Hormone-replacement therapy, guided by your preference.

Egg donation process embrion transfer

PHASE 7

Embryo Transfer

Your  embryo is  gently deposited into  your uterus.  Guided by ultrasound, it is a  risk-free and painless  procedure that is carried out in the comfort of our tranquil transfer  room.  No anaesthesia is required.

Egg donation final process pregnancy

PHASE 8

Pregnancy

15 days after transfer, we take a blood pregnancy test. You will also have a  follow-up appointment  where we check in to see how you are feeling physically and emotionally and talk about the next steps.

Common Questions

Visit the FAQ page

What screening do your donors undergo?

We have a highly selective and comprehensive screening process. Prospective donors complete a detailed questionnaire that’s reviewed by our team. Those who meet specific criteria will be invited to complete the additional screening, which involves meetings with our coordinator, a reproductive endocrinologist, a psychologist and a genetic counsellor.

The reproductive endocrinologist screens the donor from a medical perspective, while our psychologist screens the donor from a psychological perspective. Our board-certified genetic counsellor screens for a family history of birth defects or hereditary diseases by taking a comprehensive family history.

The prospective donor also undergoes a physical exam, cultures and blood tests to rule out infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, gonorrhoea and chlamydia. In addition, our donors are tested for their blood type and are screened for cystic fibrosis and inherited disorders related to haemoglobin, such as sickle cell anaemia or thalassemia, depending on ethnicity.

How long does the IVF with Egg Donation process take?

This is an extremely quick and simple process. You will need to visit us for 1 day for us to collect and freeze the sperm, complete the necessary paperwork and undergo a physical exam. Another separate day is needed for the transfer. All of this can be worked out according to your schedule and availability.

Is the embryo transfer painful?

The procedure has been likened to that of a pap smear. Some women may experience discomfort when the speculum is being inserted and others from having a full bladder, which is required to make the embryo transfer easier for the specialist. Overall, the procedure is quick and the bladder may be emptied right away.

Where are my embryos stored and for how long?

At NatuVitro, we understand that preserving eggs, sperm, and embryos for our patients is a significant responsibility that requires the highest care and consideration. As a result, we have state-of-the-art secure-access rooms with sensors and alarms that are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week so we can store what you require, for as long as you require.
